Open studio is one of the main reasons I wanted to open an art studio. I had the pleasure of pioneering the art studio at Kol Tikvah ECC, which operated largely like an open studio. Children were invited to come in and explore the room, materials and invitations to create at their own pace. This spoke to me at my core. I saw children experience such growth by taking risks, exploring new materials and working with their peers to bring their ideas to fruition. I knew I wanted these experiences to be a large part of my own art studio one day. Flash forward two years later and that opportunity is now available every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-5.

Open Studio is an open ended experience where children are invited to use the materials in the studio to create their ideas at their own pace. Prompts are set up to stimulate creativity and staff is present to support ideas and facilitate with projects. Parent and caregivers participate by helping children achieve their ideas, without doing the work for them.
Open studio is about tinkering, making important decisions, troubleshooting, and making connections. At it’s core, it’s also about enjoying downtown where adults aren’t telling you what to do. Open studio allows children to be responsible for their own choices, materials and ideas. It honors the process of the individual in a safe and inspiring creative environment.
We are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3-5 for Open Studio. Open Studio is 20 dollars per child. Packages of 6 for the price of 5 available online and in person. Drop off available for children 5 and up. All ages welcome.
