Art Camp 2012 is ova! I am officially on vacay and I am thrilled! We did an art show this year and invited all the parents. It was really nice. I decided to have the kids set up all their art work on long paper strips on the floor, rather than set everything up(…)

I had some very sweet friends over today for a gnome day. (age 8) We made gnomes and mushrooms from sculpey and then created gardens for the them to live in. Really fun project. I got everything from Michael’s which is around the corner from my house. Reason enough to never move.
My friend, writer and photographer Malina Saval, recently asked me to come up with some chanukah art projects for a piece she was writing. I came up with 5 ideas. Some better than others. But overall, I like them. I made the first one today. This was actually inspired by something I saw on pinterest(…)
I came up with Alien Army two summers ago through an art camp I was running called “Out of this World.” Ironically, it was the project I spent the least time preparing and by far the biggest hit of the summer. So, I had all these great plans for camp yesterday, including… this cool drum stick monster And this sculpey hamsa But instead, all they wanted to do was this! Which lead me to this, until about midnight last night. Meet the new recruits. We’re up to 72. New goal-200. Obsessed!
It was a busy weekend here at the Cherry house. We have enlisted a total of 55 new recruits to Alien Army 1st Infantry. Our chief squad in the Chain of Command (clearly I am going to have to brush up on my army lingo) Here’s the squad with several generals and first sergeant ________.(…)
I’m psyched to make these alien puppets in art camp tomorrow. I know the kids will outdo my little guys here. Materials-card stock (I reused some old folders), duct tape, brads, puffy paint, dowel, ribbons if desired 1. Cover card stock with duct tape. Draw your alien parts and cut out. 2. Hole punch spots(…)
My attention has shifted from felt balls to creating a full blown Alien Army. Sculpey has never been this awesome. I’m going for 50 by midnight. Now I see why the kids at camp didn’t want to stop.
